Terms

Last updated: April 24, 2026.

These terms describe the agreement between you and Penflow when you use penflow.dev and the Penflow app. Penflow is operated by Lesly Garreau, a solo founder. Contact: [email protected].

The short version

  • Your writing stays yours. Always.
  • The free plan stays free, for as long as you want to use it.
  • The Supporter plan is $4 a month and you can cancel anytime.
  • Penflow is in private beta. It works well, but we cannot promise zero bugs.
  • If Penflow ever shuts down, your local files stay with you.

The service

Penflow is a writing app for novelists. The free plan is the full editor: Write, Codex, Outline, and export for one novel. The Supporter plan adds unlimited novels and the AI reader for $4 a month.

Penflow is in private beta. We add features and fix bugs as they show up. Use the app knowing that beta software can occasionally misbehave.

Your content

Your manuscript is yours. Penflow does not claim any ownership, license, or rights to the text you write. You can export, delete, or move your work at any time. The desktop app uses local files you control.

Your account

The local desktop app can run without an account. Paid features may require an account for license and billing. You are responsible for keeping your login details private. If someone gains access to your account, email [email protected] and we will help.

You can delete your account at any time by emailing us. Local files on your computer stay under your control.

Payment

The Supporter plan is $4 a month, billed monthly. You can cancel at any time from your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial months.

If you turn on the AI reader and bring your own OpenRouter key, you pay OpenRouter directly for model usage. Penflow does not charge for tokens and does not see your spend with them.

Acceptable use

Do not use Penflow to store or generate content that is illegal where you live, infringes someone else's rights, or tries to disrupt the service. If we see this kind of use, we may suspend the account and contact you.

Service provided as is

Penflow is provided "as is." We do our best to keep it running and your data safe. We cannot guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Penflow is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our maximum liability for any claim is limited to the total amount you paid Penflow in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we update the "Last updated" date at the top. Meaningful changes also go out by email. Continuing to use Penflow after a change means you accept the new terms.

If Penflow ends

If Penflow ever needs to shut down, we will give you at least 30 days notice by email. Your local project folders stay with you regardless.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine. If you are based somewhere else, your local consumer protection laws still apply to you.
